National Nutrition Month 2018

Posted: 02/15/2018

In 1973, “National Nutrition Week” was created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) to provide the public more information on nutrition. As the public’s interest in nutrition grew, so did the national event. By 1980, this had become a month-long event and is now called “National Nutrition Month”. Each year the AND chooses a theme for this event.

The 2018 National Nutrition Month theme is “Go Further with Food”. The focus of this year’s theme is adopting healthier eating styles, while reducing food loss and waste along the way. This theme is a reminder that foods individuals choose to eat for meals, or for fueling the body before a sporting event, can directly affect the performance or outcome of the individual.
