Oakland Southfield Physicians Enters Into a New 2020 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Contract

Posted: 12/17/2019

This is an exciting time for Oakland Southfield Physicians (OSP).  On December 11, 2019 it was announced through various local and national media outlets that seven major health organizations in the State of Michigan are entering a new contracting relationship with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) for the PPO and Medicare Advantage PPO products.

OSP is one of these partners, and as BCBSM’s CEO Dan Loepp said, “This first wave of provider partners are true leaders in their industry, and courageous for stepping up and joining us in this bold new approach to promote quality and affordability.”

The new shared-risk contract called “Blueprint for Affordability” launching January 1, 2020 is a next-generation value-based incentive agreement.  OSP’s Medical Director Jerome Frankel DO adds, “Blueprint for Affordability puts the OSP primary care physicians back in the driver’s seat.  OSP is ready to keep physicians and patients at the center of their health care decisions, while supporting access to high-quality care within the local communities we serve.”

OSP’s initial offering is for select primary care physicians who are part of our BCBSM Provider Group Incentive Program (PGIP) and met prerequisite performance criteria defined by the OSP Board of Directors.
