Meijer No Longer Offers Free Atorvastatin & Metformin

Posted: 01/16/2020

Meijer pharmacy recently announced that it will no longer offer free atorvastatin and metformin effective January 15, 2020. In their statement they cite, “due to Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reimbursement pressures coupled with PBM direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees, Meijer is no longer able to offer these medications at no cost.”

Meijer is prepared to assist patients through this change. Encourage patients to present their insurance cards when picking up medications as atorvastatin and metformin are covered under most insurance plans as preferred generics.

Select antibiotics and prenatal vitamins will continue to be provided at no cost at Meijer pharmacy.
