Michigan Back Collaborative (MIBAC)

Posted: 07/23/2021

Oakland Southfield Physicians (OSP) is proud to participate in a new BCBSM statewide collaborative quality initiative (CQI) focusing on the “first-touch” treatment of low back pain. The Michigan Back Collaborative (MIBAC) is a unique initiative that involves participation of both primary care physicians (PCPs) and chiropractors. This initiative aims to improve patient outcomes, rationalize treatment and referral patterns, and improve the value of care for patients with low back pain throughout the State of Michigan. MIBAC has three levels of participation, each voluntary:

  1. Provider training for PCPs and chiropractors – 90 minutes for PCPs (https://network.mibac.org/pcp-registration) and 12 hours for chiropractors (https://network.mibac.org/dc-registration)
  2. Recruit patients to use a smart phone app to report pain and functional outcomes data
  3. Contribute clinical data to the central registry to identify “best practices” and opportunities for improvement

OSP is actively recruiting PCPs and chiropractors that are interested in participating in the initiative. If you are interested in participating, please click the appropriate link above to begin training. If you have any questions please call OSP at (248) 357-4048, or visit the MIBAC website.
