Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes: Affording Type 2 Diabetes Care Toolkit
The mission of the Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes (MCT2D) is to work with primary care physicians to prevent and reverse the progression of type 2 diabetes. One of MCT2D’s key initiatives is the increased prescribing of GLP-1 and SGLT-2 inhibitors for diabetes management. The recently released “Affording your Type 2 Diabetes Care: A Patient Toolkit on Insurance Coverage and Cost” is a helpful guide to assist patients with navigating insurance for better coverage of these medications. The toolkit provides topics such as “What to ask your insurance company”, copay cards for private/commercial insurance, patient assistance programs for Medicare Part D, and senior savings programs for Medicare Part D.
