Community Naloxone Kit Distribution

Posted: 03/07/2025

Naloxone (NarcanĀ®) is a lifesaving medication that rapidly and temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. Providing low-barrier access to naloxone allows people who use substances and the broader community to be prepared for an overdose emergency.

The Overdose Prevention Engagement Network (OPEN) provides free naloxone rescue kits for organizations for the following purposes:

  • Staff first aid kits
  • Distribution to participants of naloxone training sessions
  • Distribution to community members during an event (e.g. conference, resource fair, etc.)

The rescue kit includes:

  • 1 box (2-4 mg doses) of naloxone nasal spray
  • Naloxone: Learn the Facts brochure
  • 1 pair of gloves
  • 1 CPR Face Shield
  • 1 kit bag with naloxone administration instructions

Eligibility:

  • Based in Michigan
  • Have a plan for distribution or use of naloxone kits
