Blue Cross Complete Offers No-cost Car Seats Available for Eligible Members

Posted: 04/30/2025

Blue Cross Complete will provide no-cost car seats to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), members who are enrolled in the Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP).

As part of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Car Seat Distribution Program, Medicaid Health Plans are working with the MDHHS to facilitate the distribution of car seats to eligible families. Michigan law requires infants to be in rear-facing car seats until they turn two years old or reach the maximum weight or height allowed by the car seat manufacturer. As they grow, they’ll move into forward-facing car seats, followed by booster seats. Children must ride in the rear seats of vehicles, if there’s one available, until age 13.

J&B Medical Supply will deliver car seats to members or the MIHP agency within 48 hours after an order has been placed. For more information, members should contact their Blue Cross Complete care manager or call Blue Cross Complete’s Rapid Response Outreach Team at 1-888-288-1722, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
