This applies to COVID-19 testing services and any other services covered by the contract. Charging members for covered services, with the exception of copayments and deductibles, is contrary to your contract with Blue Cross and BCN.

Instead of charging members, urgent care centers must:

• Administer the services without collecting payment from our members in accordance with the testing criteria listed in the COVID-19 patient testing recommendations for physicians document
• Bill Blue Cross or BCN for these services

In addition, if you’ve collected payments from Blue Cross and BCN commercial members for covered COVID-19 diagnostic tests or specimen collection services — or for any other service covered under your contract with BCBSM and BCN — you must reimburse those members in a timely manner.
