MDHHS Post Public Health Emergency Telemedicine Policy Update
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the final Medicaid Bulletin MMP 23-10 – Telemedicine to provide updates on program coverage of telemedicine services after the conclusion of the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.
In the bulletin, MDHHS reminded Medicaid providers that all services provided via telemedicine must meet all quality and specifications as an in-person visit. Additionally, providers must ensure the privacy of the beneficiary and the security of any information shared via telemedicine is in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy and security regulations as applicable.
