Health Care Workers Encouraged to Advocate for Flu Vaccination to Safeguard Public

Posted: 10/18/2023

The flu virus can have severe consequences for individuals, particularly those with underlying health conditions.

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), every year thousands of people are hospitalized due to influenza-related complications. In Michigan, the goal is to vaccinate 4 million people during the 2023-2024 flu season.

Blue Cross Complete covers seasonal flu vaccines with no copayment for all members. They can receive the vaccine from a medical provider, local health department or pharmacy. For the pharmacy, call ahead to determine availability and ask about age limits, as most pharmacies have restrictions on vaccinating children under a certain age.
