The MDHHS Release CPT and HCPCS Code Updates

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued bulletin MMP 24-05 on February 5, 2024, notifying all health care providers of several code updates for current procedural terminology and health care common procedure coding system.

  • Effective Jan. 1, 2024, coverage of new codes includes:
    • Physicians, practitioners, and medical clinics,
    • Outpatient prospective payment system,
    • Ambulatory payment classification,
    • Child and Adolescent Health Centers & Programs,
    • Certified nurse midwives, family planning clinics,
    • Medical suppliers, orthotists, and prosthetists,
    • Laboratory services,
    • School services program,
    • Audiologist,
    • Occupational therapists,
    • Physical therapists and speech language pathologists,
    • Urgent care centers,
    • CORF/CARF/Rehab agency,
    • Social worker, psychologist, professional counselor and marriage and family therapists
    • State psychiatric hospital, independent diagnostic testing facility
    • New coverage of existing codes includes:
    • Physicians, practitioners, and medical clinics
    • Laboratory services
    • Prior authorization for existing codes
    • Discontinued 2023 HCPCS codes for all applicable providers
